Back pain is a common problem in many people. While its cause varies, it can result in severe discomfort. To alleviate this pain, some turn to medications. However, these pain medications aren’t always helpful and come with serious side effects of their own. Below you’ll discover more behind why pain medications don’t always work and a handful of ways you can naturally treat back pain.

Back pain can be caused by many different things such as:

Eating Anti-Inflammatory Food is one of the best natural ways to treat back pain. Back pain is often caused by severe inflammation. If this inflammation isn’t reduced, it can press on your spine and surrounding nerves which can irritate them. By adding anti-inflammatory food to your diet, it can prevent back pain because it will reduce this swelling. Some of the best anti-inflammatory food to consume to treat back pain include tomatoes, salmon, blueberries, and almonds.


Chiropractic care is another great way to help ease chronic and acute back pains. Chiropractic care is a holistic form of medicine known for treating various types of musculoskeletal problems. This alternative form of medicine focuses mainly on your spine because it believes that the spine is interconnected to all body parts. For instance, if you feel pain in your arm, it could be due to a slipped vertebrae. At your treatment, a chiropractor will ask about your current symptoms and medical history. After reviewing this information, they will then inspect your spine. By feeling around this area, they’ll be able to identify possible problems and where adjustments need to be made. It also strengthens your bones preventing one side from being tenser than the other.


Posture is Key

Sometimes back pain is the result of incorrect posture. If you walk, sit, or stand incorrectly, it can put pressure on your spine and shift it. This puts you more at risk of spinal pain and slipped discs. Because of this, it’s important to use proper posture as much as you can. Always make sure your shoulders are aligned and your feet are spaced evenly apart. When sitting, you’ll also want to leave about an inch between the back of your legs and the chair.
